Biffa is the leading nationwide integrated waste management business providing collection, treatment, recycling and technologically-driven energy generation services. Through the expertise of our people and investment in technology we promote and deliver sustainable waste management solutions. Our Industrial & Commercial division is the UK’s number one commercial waste operator, covering a vast range of UK business sectors, including manufacturing, retail and hospitality. The Division operates a collection network of 1,200 collection vehicles, from 68 depots and 29 transfer stations. With an unrivalled ability to self-deliver across 95% of UK postcodes, our strategic, nationwide infrastructure provides our customers with a truly full-service solution. Supporting the I&C division are Biffa’s other operational divisions. Our Energy division produces energy from landfill gas and from food waste via AD (Anaerobic Digestion) as well as operating an MBT (Mechanical Biological Treatment) plant in West Sussex. Our Resource, Recovery & Treatment (RR&T) division’s operational assets include two large MRFs (Material Recovery Facilities), a plastics recycling business, soil treatment and composting facilities, 11 landfill sites, and a national Hazardous Waste collection and treatment network. This gives us the capability to manage Hazardous Waste and WEEE. Our Hazardous Waste team are experts who understand the complex legal requirements and moral obligations to handle and process these wastes in the least damaging way for our environment. We understand that the safe segregation, handling, collection treatment and disposal of hazardous waste is essential to the environment and to the customer's reputation as a producer of such waste. Through our network of transfer stations we are able to provide national coverage for disposal of containerised or packaged waste, ranging from small volume waste through to bulk containers. Our nationwide fleet of dedicated collection vehicles and operating crews are compliant with all regulations regarding the transfer of hazardous wastes and comply with ADR and CDG requirements. Wastes are processed and treated to maximise recycling, recovery and the use of waste to generate energy in line with the current Waste Hierarchy. WEEE - We offer a collection service for all your redundant electrical goods. We can arrange collection on an ad-hoc or scheduled basis using a variety of collection vehicles for small crates or larger exchange containers. We recycle all fluorescent tubes at our in-house facility. Fluorescent lighting tubes are classed as hazardous waste due to their mercury content and need to be disposed of correctly to ensure your business remains compliant.
